It’s October, and autumn has arrived once more here in Ireland. Right now, the weather is cold and wet, but we are still getting some good days. Today is Halloween, so I’ll be taking my daughter trick or treating later this evening. Planned on having a barbecue tonight as well, but we’ll have to see how the weather goes. Either way, I’ll be breaking out the whiskey 🙂

What I’m Reading

Right now I’m reading loads of books and articles on Kickstarter. I’ll explain why in a moment…

I’m also re-reading the The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker because I just recently watched the new Hellraiser movie, which I quite enjoyed. As reboots go, it was pretty good, and the new Hell Priest is pretty cool as well. Have you seen the movie? What did you think?

What I’m Watching

Right now, I’m watching The Midnight Club on Netflix. When I was younger, I was a big fan of Christopher Pike’s books, so I was excited to see this new production. I also like Mike Flanagan’s work, so I was expecting great things from this. So far, the series isn’t bad. I’m about halfway through and mostly enjoying it. Hopefully it will finish well.

I also finished watching Dahmer recently, which I thought was pretty damn good. Evan Peters was brilliant as always, and pretty much nailed the role. All credit to Ryan Murphy for creating yet another great show. The Watchers is another Murphy production that I watched just last week, and I throughly enjoyed that one as well. Creepy and ultra compelling, like all Ryan Murphy’s shows.

What I’m Listening To

Skinny Puppy. I love this band, their earlier albums anyway. If you’ve never heard them, they are a hard band to describe, although someone once described their music as “technology abuse.” It’s a pretty good description. The band emerged in the mid 80s and came out with never-before-heard dark electronic music full of synths, samples, and sinister vocals. Check out Cleanse Fold and Manipulate and Too Dark Park. Both awesome albums.

What I’m Writing

Alright, the bit you’ve all been waiting for.

I’ve finished the first book in my new series! Yay!

It’s been a long time coming, but I’ve been busy with the gaming start up I’m involved with (for which I’ve written two books and designed all the lore).

The new series stars Zack Schade, and the first book tells of his fall into magic and the Tri-Worlds, as he tries to save his best friend from the clutches of a sadistic vampire. The series will probably be called Schade of Magic, and the first book has the working title of Flintlocked.

At this point, I’m seriously considering running a Kickstarter campaign for this novel. It’s something I want to try so I can offer signed editions and possibly other goodies as well. I’ll keep you informed about that.
