Ever since I can remember, I have been drawn to dark, twisted stories that involve anti-heroes and usually monsters as well. This is why I was delighted to discover the urban fantasy genre, because it perfectly encapsulates everything I love about dark fiction… dark fiction that is also fun! Like the Ethan Drake Series, my most popular series.

I have been writing for a long time. But for the last ten years I have been writing professionally and full time, which is a fancy way of saying I get paid for writing pulp fiction books.

Before this financial miracle of miracles occurred, I had to earn my living doing all sorts of menial jobs. Mostly manual labour, but I was also a salesman, a nightclub bouncer, and a professional martial arts instructor. That last job wasn’t menial. It was also very rewarding. But despite my love of martial arts, I was a writer at heart. So I had give up teaching people how to kick someone’s ass. Sorry, I mean I had to give up teaching self defence. There.

Anyway, I took writing seriously, and I’m thankful I did. Now I’m truly doing what I love… and getting paid to do it!
